Namatoke (Pronounced: nama-toe-key) is the musical moniker of Timothy Kling, an independent Australian producer/composer currently based amongst the ominous harbour glow and leafy streets of Sydney.
Namatoke’s debut ‘Chiaroscuro’ may share sonic similarities with fellow Australian bands: Decoder Ring and Pivot, as well as, international artists such as: Brian Eno, Hans Zimmer, Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin and Explosions in the Sky.
Chiaroscuro is a concept album, exploring emotive and textural instrumental music with original evocative poetry.
Previously Namatoke has performed solo as ‘Timothee K’ and in the band ‘Born in the 80’s’ alongside fellow musicians such as: Bertie Blackman, The Paper Scissors, Lior, Peragrine, Melanie Horsnell, Paul Greene, Andy Clockwise and Wesley Carr.
When not composing music he can be found indulging in his second passion: literature, drinking Macchiatto’s and selling second hand books in an inner city bookstore/café.
Namatoke appears on ‘New Weird Australia, Volume Three’.
